Scope of work

Sq mtrs:  over 38,000m²

Specifications:
Flock Image has recently completed the installation of approx. 38,000m² of Hammerflow flooring at the newly built facility for Lufthansa Technik Malta.

The seamless epoxy resin based system developed exclusively by Flock Image and known locally under the name of Hammerflow has been used to floor large areas of the new facility including the warehouse and workshop areas as well as 3 separate hangers.

Hammerflow offers excellent resistance to a wide range of chemical compounds used in the aviation industries. Hammerflow also delivers a number of tangible environment benefits when compared to other flooring systems of its kind. Not only is Hammerflow virtually odourless but its solvent and Nonylphenol-free formulation ensures that no harmful volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) are released to atmosphere during application to meet high air quality standards.

On April 4th the new facility was officially inaugurated by Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who applauded Lufthansa Technik for its investment towards achieving excellence in high value added manufacturing. Gonzi also congratulated the Maltese workforce, including those at Flock Image, who had played such a pivotal role in constructing the new high-tech facility.

The new centre is expected to create some 700 new jobs by 2010 – an impressive figure when placed in context of the global economic downturn and a major expansion step for Lufthansa Technik Malta, who when opening six years ago accounted for just 100 employees.

Since its foundation, it has carried out over 350 C-checks on aircraft belonging to Lufthansa and other customers. In addition to Deutsche Lufthansa and Air Malta aircraft its customers base today include airlines such as Afriqia, Spanair, Air One, bmi, Germanwings, Fly Niki, Nigerian company Arik Air, Wizz Air and Sun Express.
